Output, purity and pressure
The KDON-5500/10000 Air Separation Plant employs a process that air
is purified with molecular sieve at normal temperature, booster
expansion turbine is used to produce refrigerating capacity,
structural packing is applied and argon is extracted through full
The compressed purified air is divided into three streams: one
stream is fed out to be instrument air; another stream is boosted
through circulating compressor; the rest enters main heat exchanger
to be cooled by reflux gas and then enters lower column.
Following preliminary rectification in lower column, the liquid air
and pure liquid nitrogen are obtained from lower column, and liquid
oxygen with purity of 99.6% is obtained from the bottom is fed to
liquid oxygen pump, and then sent to the client after being
rewarmed in main heat exchanger.
The pure nitrogen gas withdrawn from the top of upper column goes
out of cold box to cooling water tower after being rewarmed in
subcooler and main heat exchanger.
The waste nitrogen gas drawn from the upper portion of upper column
after it is re-warmed in subcooler and main heat exchanger, it goes
out of cold box to meet the need of regeneration gas of molecular
sieve first, and the rest is sent to water cooling tower.
A certain amount of argon fraction withdrawn from the middle of
upper column is fed to the crude argon column. The crude liquid
argon is obtained through argon fraction rectificated in crude
argon column and fed to the middle of pure argon column. The pure
liquid argon is obtained at the bottom of pure argon column
following rectification in this column.
